Today especially for you we chose 10 of the most interesting and the most spectacular and original events from around the world. This list is not arranged in order of best to worst, or vice versa. The order is random, because we believe that each of these events has something exceptional, every festival brings with it a good adventure and original ideas.

 

1. Harbin’s Ice and Snow Festival

It is simply the biggest, made from a grand scale exhibition of sculptures made of ice and snow. Artists present their work, emphasizing their work with light, lasers and projections. The view is genuinely breathtaking! Space is divided into three parts. The first is the Sun Island Scenic Area, which presents a large snow sculptures and is open to visitors only during the day. The second part is the Ice and Snow World, open to explore during the day, but is more attractive after dark, with the effect of lighting. In this area presented sculptures are made in realistic, life-size. The third part is the perfect venue for the youngest visitors – Zhaolin Park – here sculptures are in the shape of animals, kites, etc., on many of them you can play 🙂

2. Holi – Indie

Holi is an Indian festival of colors. On this day, all Indians celebrate the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil. Feast is also a great opportunity to have fun, because the celebration is followed by throwing at each other colored powders and water. The effect is very spectacular; this festival has become an inspiration for many other events taking place in Europe and even in Poland. However, Holi is the oldest and largest festival of colors. How it looks – see yourself!

3. Up Helly Aa Fire Festival – Scotland

Every year on the last Tuesday of January, in the town of Lerwick in Scotland takes place festival, which could be called the Feast of the Vikings and fire. The festival is nothing like a huge parade of more than 1,000 people with flaming torches. Everything begins after breakfast, around 8:00 in the morning. Next a group led by Jarl passes through the city, visiting important places, such as schools and hospitals. The highlight of the event is throwing all burning torches to the ship.

4. Pingxi Lantern Festival – Taiwan

Extremely spectacular and joyful celebration held in Taiwan, involving the release into the air thousands of lanterns. Together with lanterns human cares and worries are supposed to escape. Long time ago it was said that the lanterns took away from the city all the evil and diseases. In lanterns people place dreams and requests so it fly into the sky.

5. Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta – New Mexico, USA

Baloons – who does not love balloons?! The world’s largest balloon festival is held every year in the US in October. The festival involved up to 750 balloons, lasts for nine days. It should be noted that New Mexico is famous for its beautiful landscapes, so the crew of the balloons have spectacular views during the flight 🙂

6. Festival of White Nights – St. Petersburg, Russia

In May, a period when the St. Petersburg sun shines even at midnight, in a romantic setting are organized shows, where you can enjoy Russian ballet and opera. The big attraction in this period are also bridges raised at night – this is to enable ships sailing on the Neva River.

7. La Tomatina – Spain

Celebration in the Spanish town of Buñol, in which participants throw tomatoes at each other. What is interesting, especially for this battle they grow less tasty and cheap variety of tomatoes. Tomatina starts at about 10. For this to be one of the first participants from the crowd must climb the pole greased with soap, on top of which is a Spanish ham. When someone succeed, then shot out of a cannon announces the beginning of the battle. The rules are clear – you can only throw tomatoes and tomatoes before throwing should be crushed, so nobody gets hurt. The battle lasts an hour and ends up in a similar way as it starts.

8. Songkran Water Festival – Tailand

Songkran, Thai New Year is celebrated very rollicking throughout Thailand. One of the main elements of Songkran is the custom of pouring each other with water. In addition to water they use chalk dust on people’s faces – of course they treat it as a good luck.

9. Mud Festival – South Korea

Since 1998, every year in the town of Boryeong, South Korea an amazing festival of mud is held. The Boryeong Festival is full of attractions such as mud massages, mud slides, street parades, and for the braver participants skiing in the mud, and even stocks. It should be added here, that the festival is a very clever marketing campaign for the city and the high-quality cosmetics it produces. The festival lasts 10 days and is visited by 80 000 participants.

10. Burning Man – Black Rock Desert, Nevada, USA

It is the annual event on the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada. It takes its name from the ritual burnings of wooden effigy on Saturday evening. Highlights of this event is that it takes place in a temporary town in the middle of the desert, and the participants during the event form a kind of commune. Some argue that this is an experiment in creating a community, radical self-expression, and complete reliance on themselves, but apparently, you have to be there to understand it 🙂
